John Gulasy
Accordionist / Keyboardist

John started playing the accordion when he was 7 years old. From grades 7 through 12, he attended Cincinnatiís School For Creative and Performing Arts where he majored in Instrumental Music and played the violin in the schoolís Symphony Orchestra. At age 14 he and some members of Cincinnatiís Germania Society started a German band called Cincinnati Sonnenschein which later became known as Cincinnati Schnapps. In the years following, he learned to play piano, keyboards, drums and trumpet. He was trained in Classical Music and has had extensive studies in jazz improvisation. He holds a bachelors degree from the University of Cincinnati in Electrical Engineering Technology and is currently a Controls and Electrical Engineer for Cinergy Power Corp.  In addition to being a member of Cincinnati Schnapps, John presently is a full time member of New Vintage and The Sound Body Jazz Orchestra. He also plays on an on-call basis with several Cincinnati big bands and small jazz combos as well as performances with the Texas swing band, BuckeyeRoos. The range of musical types that John plays and enjoys is vast however; his favorites are Jazz, Big Band, Swing and Fusion.
